Summer in Rexburg is short and spectacular. The light is golden, the fields are green, and the Sand Dunes just outside of town make for one of the most unique outdoor photography backdrops in the entire state of Idaho. If you've been thinking about booking a portrait session, this is the season to do it — and a mini session is the easiest way to get started.
What Is a Mini Session?
A mini session is a shorter, focused portrait shoot at a set price. Instead of a full 60-90 minute session, you get 15 focused minutes at a beautiful outdoor location with one photographer (that's me), and you walk away with 5 professionally edited photos delivered in an online gallery.
The short time frame sounds tight, but here's the truth: 15 minutes of directed, focused shooting produces better photos than 60 minutes of wandering and figuring it out. We'll move fast, I'll direct your poses, and we'll get it done.
Think of it like a photo booth, but with a professional photographer, better light, and photos you'll actually want to print.

Locations in Rexburg
I shoot at three primary outdoor locations depending on what you're looking for. Each has a distinct feel:
🏜️ Sand Dunes
Just south of Rexburg — wide open, earthy, golden light. Best in early morning or just before sunset.
🌿 Ricks Gardens
Lush green gardens and flower beds on the BYU-Idaho campus. Great year-round, lush background.
🌳 Eagle Park
Tree-lined paths and open grass. Perfect for families and couples who want a more classic park feel.

Sessions book up quickly in summer — weekends especially. I limit the number of mini sessions per day so everyone gets quality attention. If your preferred date is taken, I'll work with you to find another time that works.
Who Are Mini Sessions Best For?
Mini sessions work well for:
- Couples who want updated photos without a big time commitment
- Families with young kids — shorter sessions mean better cooperation from little ones
- Seniors needing quick, affordable headshots or portraits
- Anyone trying us out before committing to a full session
If you're planning a larger family session, want multiple outfit changes, or need an hour of coverage, a full session would serve you better. But if you want clean, simple, beautiful photos in 15 minutes — mini sessions are the move.
What to Wear
A few quick pointers for looking your best on camera:
- Soft, solid colors photograph beautifully. Avoid busy patterns that distract.
- Earth tones and pastels work especially well with Rexburg's outdoor scenery.
- Layers add visual interest and give you options to change up your look without a second outfit.
- Avoid bright white — it can blow out in bright sunlight. Cream, ivory, or soft grey work better.
If you're not sure, send me a photo of what you're thinking. I'm happy to give a quick opinion.
